This will be my 3rd build. I bought this $300 CM400T with a title simply for the engine. My CM450 was having issues that I later resolved. So, I already know the engine is good. It will need kickstarter work but the electric starter works fine.

I am going for a tracker / scrambler this go around.

Got 'new' Comstars for the 1982 CM450 so I will be using these on the 1979.

It definitely sounds that way! Started it up after sitting 15 years after a quick oil change, new plugs, gas & battery.

Got her on the rack with the different wheels. Lots of planning and parts ordering. Decided to order a seat from Texavina in Vietnam. I was not disappointed.

Drove 12 hours round trip for this 1981 CM400A for $100 with title. Engina is a brick but the tank, side covers and Comstars are sweet! It'll be the next project. But for now its an organ donor.

Went off to powdercoat. After a month it finally returned. They discounted sharply and only charged me $100!

After its return I got the steering head back on with All Ball bearings. I also decided to paint the forks using self-etching primer & VHT Satin black high temp wheel paint.

Medic13, what tires do you have on those rims? And what is there sizes, just curious as to what fits and looks like good onoff road tires. And have you used these tires before, your opinion?

They are Shinko 705 tires. Tubeless but have to tube them due to the Comstar porosity.

Re-Assembly progress. Engine & seat in. Thinking about Matte Red Metallic Wrap instead of paint. Thoughts?

Frame looks great, nice gloss - and you got a great deal too
Thanks! Went velvet texture with last build and it didn't look like a proper powdercoat.
