Hi, having some ossiers with my CB500, starts up fine, compression good, fuel mix is good, but when I am riding when I push up over 4000rpm, I lose power and the engine seems to rev up but with no power. Any ideas? Could it be the clutch slipping under load? I have rebuilt the carbs and I some new intake rubber boots on the way.

yes, sounds like clutch slippage.

^^^yes, anytime the engine revs increase and you're not accelerating, the power is not getting to the rear wheel... clutch slipping for sure

What oil are you using? You can't just use regular motor oil as that has friction modifiers that will cause clutch slippage. For all motorcycles with wet clutches use oil rated for JASO-MA
I personally use Rotella T4 since it's good, cheap, and readily available.
