So I recently bought a 75' cb360t, and the apparently common issue of the top triple tree being cracked is upon me. I have a replacement, but my question is is it possible to replace only the top triple tree as opposed to taking the entire thing off? I haven't found any great information on how that swap is done. I also know that when tightening they are prone to crack again, so any torque settings anyone knows would be great as well.

The top triple is held on to the steering stem by the chrome nut on top, and a second nut, (you need a spanner wrench) under neath that has a lock washer, so yes, the top triple comes off without removing the forks or lower triple.

Take off your handlebars first....Easier to move around.

Do not over tighten the clamp bolts. That ius why they broke in the first place. Someone strong-armed them....
