New to forum, but Honda's have been in my blood since my first street bike (40 yrs. ago). I recently purchased a 1972 CB350 K4 and my plans are to café it out. It has external springs and I want to swap them out for a front end with internal springs. I would like to keep the front wheel (spokes). Does anyone have any information to help with this one?

Thanks

If your bike is actually a '72 K4 then the front forks you have are from an earlier CB350 model since the K4 came with the internal springs. Figured I'd mention it since you should probably first determine what parts have been swapped out. I can't recall what exact years came with the external springs but thinking it was initial models like K0 and K1.

Just to verify your frame and engine, check the serial numbers against the ranges on this page: https://www.motorera.com/honda/h0350/sport350.htm

Look forward to following your project, I'm currently doing a cafe-ish CB350 as well.

The CB350K3 was the last one to come with external fork springs;you can easily swap a pr. of K4 front forks into it while using the same lower triple clamp and then only need to replace the top triple from a true K4.What is your V.I.N./frame number ? any pics ?

The site that was list above states that the vin starts with a 4, and mine does. So not sure if anything was swapped out at any time. I have not taken the forks out yet, but under the covers are the external spring, correct? Also attached is a pic of the other side cover with the emblem, if that helps anyone to help me. One last thing I have noticed on a number of pics of these years is, some of the front fenders have underside mounting for the supports and some are on the top of the fender???

The covers cover the chrome strut if your forks are original and to me they look correct for the year. More knowledgeable folks will correct me as they should.

The forks you have do not have external springs. jd50i has it 100% spot on about the covers just covering the chrome struts.

I agree, Side Covers are from a '71 K3.

Also the Bar Mounted Switches (both sides) have either been re-done and stripped of paint or are NOT original.
Originals were painted BLACK ( with a very cheap paint that faded to a gray).

The handle bars also look like replacement but the pic is not quite good enough to tell for sure.
If there is a second layer of tubing reinforcing the cutouts for the wiring in the center it may be original if not well....
