Hi I am rebuilding a 71 cb450 engine/trans. I am looking for the tabbed washer on the outside of the sprocket in the attached photo that holds the nut in place. See #3 in the second image. I checked on cmsnl and the part isn't listed. 2nd, what cam chain are you using? I've searched for the...

1973 Honda cl350. Took the engine apart for a new head gasket and rings. Engine is back in bike now, and timing is way off. I had all the marks lined up, then I installed cam tensioner, side covers, and put the engine in the bike. Now none of the marks are even close to lining up, the line on...

73 cl, when the LT mark is on the compression stroke, the cam nipple and the line on the sprocket face downwards, shouldn’t it be the other way around? I thought that all three were supposed to line up on the compression stroke, not the exhaust?

Hi All, I recently took apart my CB200 engine and have found that the Cam Chain Bar Tensioner has had a lot of wear and the chain appears to have eaten into the side of the head of the tensioner. Does anyone know where I might be able to buy a replacement, I can't find anywhere online at the...
  5. Mechanical Issues
Hi Everyone It looks like my cam chain on my 1972 CB175 cam chain came apart one day while I was out riding. I'm not a mechanic but I'm willing to give it a shot if someone can step me through the repair process. Can this be repaired without splitting the engine case apart?

Hello Everyone Midnight Rider from Canada here! I'm not sure if I already posted a member introduction or not because it's been a while since I've been on the site. So here it is again. I'm the proud owner of a 1972 Honda CB 175 super sport that I'm super fond of. I've been shining it up for...

Gurus ... I am about to reassemble my engine and was doing a little research on the cam chain a couple days ago, when I cam across this comment in an old thread ... "Also make sure you are using the correct cam chain. The EK 219H chain will not fit right. You need to use the DID 219T chain."...

Hi everyone, Over the past few months i've been rebuilding a CB500T motor. The process has gone really well overall. I've done a lot of cb550/650/750 motors and then a handful of the cb/cl350's but this was the first time i torn down and completely rebuilt a DOHC Honda twin. I have my motor...

Hello everybody! I'm back with new issues :) So my engine was already apart so I figured, let's change the cam chain. That should be easy and I have already done it with some help.... Nope. I first tried to drive the chain with the current one. Didn't work out... I had to remove the cam shafts...

Hey all! I'm running into a strange issue and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas. It seems like cam chain on my 78 CB400T is losing tension after only about 20 miles of riding. I adjusted the valves and cam chain in that order following the FSM this spring. When I did the valves, I pulled...

I have been trying to tune up my cb160, but there is still a rattle noise from the engine in idle, and in gear, but the engine noise seems to drown it out at revs. See the video here: I turned the dynamo rotor to the inside T mark line (the line on the rotor edge over the T, not the line next...

So terrible day. It started as a great one; all I needed to do was to add oil, button up some wiring, add gas, and finally start up and go for a test ride. WRONG. While going through the normal motions of starting a bike that hasn't been started in several months, after a "restore to life" on...

It's getting time for me to order a new cam chain and I was wondering what would be a good chain for my project. I am installing a KA slider type of tensioner and have read that the Tsubaki Heavy Duty Endless Cam Chain works best for my application. I cannot find a place that sells them...

Hello people, I got used CB200 and still learning lot about it, one of the thing is the cam chain adjuster bolt - lock nut. So I have just realized when I opened my crankshaft cover and put it in the TDC position for some routine work, then I saw these: The bolt on the rear side, showing the...

I went for a ride yesterday on my '71 CB350 and met a guy that had owned the same bike when it was new. He commented about the "ticking" noise that my engine makes. Since purchasing the bike a month ago I have checked the cam chain adjustment, adjusted the valves and set the points (to the...

Hey all, It's been almost a year since my last post but I have been lurking and watching. Being a creep, you know. Some background: Last year I rebuilt the engine on my CL360. New valves, rings, seals, etc. I also put in a new cam chain. I was so proud of my hard work. It ran...

Hi, I am a new member with a 1976 CB200, and I have a question or two. Very briefly, the bike is in great condition. I suspect it was very carefully restored in about 1990, then lovingly looked after, and hardly used, if at all. It is a delight to ride, but I need to catch up with its...

Hey guys. new here. I have a 69 cb350 k1 that has some chain noise, went to re-adjust the adjuster and noticed mine doesn't have an adjuster screw or locknut on it. mine looks like this EBAY ITEM also it has a round rummer circular piston instead of the rubber square pad. Will i be in any...

I apologize if this is a newb question but I could really use the help. My ultimate goal is to get to where I can fully inspect the valves and valve springs on my 73 CL350. After much tinkering last fall (tappet adjustments, seafoaming the cylinders, new points, etc), I believe I have some...

I looked on the site and couldn't find a thread that addressed this. I apologize if I missed it. Anyways, the engine rebuild is going pretty well but now I'm stuck. I have the cam chain on the sprocket but I can't seem to get the sprocket on the cam shoulder. Its so close it just won't slide...
