Just saying - if a 305 Hawk was found still in its crate

While chatting with one of our completion center employees about my challenges with the CL350 I recently acquired, we were discussing other bikes we have owned. I mentioned that my first "real" motorcycle was when I was in the sixth grade or junior high and it was a Honda Hawk 305 Scrambler.
He then proceeded to tell me about a family friend who used to own the local Honda dealership (none exists any longer) and that he was told their family friend still has a Honda Hawk 305 sitting in his garage that was never unpacked. He has no idea what the family friend plans to do with it.
In any event, that does start the imagination flowing for me.

He has a Superhawk in the crate if it's the 305... but I personally think having one still in the crate would make for tremendous value, even if sitting in the crate that long had some detrimental effects on it overall. It would be incredibly rare and would be one bike that the actual mileage would be a certainty. I suppose if you were a dealer at one time it would be incredibly tempting to have one of each of the groundbreaking bikes Honda made in the crate, like a Black Bomber, a sandcast CB750, a Gold Wing and a CBX

Think I would like an original Z1 in a crate.

A few years ago there was a spell of various models found still in crates.
As expected they sold for big bucks. But in no way could they be started and run without going through the whole bike carefully.

I spotted this the other day, even emailed him to ask how he arrived at his asking price(haven't heard back). I honestly have no idea what something like this is worth.https://albany.craigslist.org/mcy/d/...852988295.html

well, I see 3 things: it's not in a box anymore - it's been opened and basically destroyed from the pics, it actually looks somewhat incorrectly assembled (leading axle forks appear to be backwards), and it's not worth $24k... I get that it's still "new", but it isn't exactly the collector's item that many other bikes from that era would be. I'm thinking he'd be lucky to get $5k for it

Tom, what would that be worth if it was still in the crate?
