78 Cb400T Replacement Front Brake Caliper

    Hey all,

Recently completed my project bike after moving back home. Pretty happy with everything at the moment however I was wondering if anyone has retro-fitted a modern front brake caliper/brake system to a 78 CB400T? I'm looking for better braking power without having to do a complete forkswap etc.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Andy

Do you have a disk brake now with single piston caliper? You can easily upgrade to the twin piston caliper used on the 81 CM400C. Add a braided steel brake line, a new master cylinder and DOT4 brake fluid and you should be in good shape.

Thanks for the reply Alan. Yes I have the single piston caliper. Is it just a straight bolt on swap? Do I need the mounting bracket as well or just the caliper? I currently have an aftermarket brake cylinder however the piston diameter is the same as stock. I'm assuming that is important also? Cheers

Yes I think it is a bolt on swap.

The bracket #10 was used on lots of bikes, so was the caliper assembly. Scroll down to see Related Fitment and you can begin your search.

    Master cylinder should be compatible.
