What does the manufacturer code on the tire say?....... Five years is the limit...Cracking or not.......

    I wouldn't ride that tire....JMHO......

If the tread face looks like that, what level of checking does the sidewall have? I learned from a Uniroyal tire rep (program tires for the Tampa Police cars) long ago that sidewall checking is rated on a 1 to 5 scale, with 1 and 2 being acceptable and 3 being marginal, anything numerically higher as judged by visual inspection (deeper checking, more prominent) being considered unsafe... but of course, the age is also important and NOS tires could be a problem just as NOS rubber parts in the engine are as well

Hard to tell from the pic but the tread appears to be starting to cup . Probably from low air pressure.

I kinda figured as much. Tire was changed 2016
Side wall shows no signs of cracking just along the exterior of the tread is where the picture shows

I agree with Steve, I wouldn’t ride it. Having spent 15 summers in the Valley of the sun, I know on a “cool” day pavement temps are triple digits which will capitalize on any imperfections in a tire. Hit a pothole, piece of debris etc. = blowout!

Still weird that a tire only 3 years old would look like that. Better safe than sorry, for sure
