I have a 1982 Honda CM450 cafe racer project on the go, and the right side runs much stronger than the left. Carbs have been cleaned and all that jazz. Please help!!
Fast carb rebuild. Now that the sync is done the mixtures have to be set correctly. Get the engine hot, preferably ride for a few miles, and set on the center stand. Bike has to be upright. Adjust idle to 1200, 11-1300 is the acceptable range, and adjust one mixture screw to highest idle, you may have to rest the idle speed if it crosses 1300. Once that's done repeat on the other side. Ride it for a few miles and repeat the process again.
With even compression, good ignition and properly set carbs both pipes should be the same approximate temp. One side hotter means either that side is running lean or the other side is rich.
When you did the carbs did you reuse the original float needle or use one from the kit. From the kit usually means the float level is too high or low. Did you check float level before assembly?
Were all 3 idle/transition ports clean and clear?
His power chamber has been removed, the two exhausts are no longer connected. I also noticed looking back at the pictures that using the tank as a level the two sides are appear to be at different angles. Is there a measureable temperature difference between the two sides?
There's only one stator for the manual transmission models 1978-86. 1978 versions have bullet connectors for the primary pickup instead of a plug.
There's only one stator for all the A models also which is not interchangeable with the manuals
