Stock Tachometers, How to add one

For those who would like to add the factory mechanical tachometer it's quite simple. You need to purchase a right case cover with the tachdrive unit plus the cable, tach and cover gasket. Remove your old cover and install the replacement. Honda in their wisdom has the other half of the drive already in the engine on the oil pump. Item #2 in this fiche http://www.servicehondapsn.com/fiche_se ... veh=132925.

NOTE: this applies to the CB/CM 400 and 450's

For those wanting to use an aftermarket tachometer the gear ratio is 1.7

I don't see any form of tach drive looking thru fiches. Is there a engine in the same family that does have a tach? Family meaning like the 400 and 450 are related using many of the same parts

    i looked into it, the Cm185 Cm200 Cm250 Cd185 Cd200 Cd250 have no tachometers...

Unlike the Cm400E Cm450E where you can buy a Cm400C Cm450C and use the gears..

That's odd. I could have sworn that my 1980 CM200T had a tach. Of course, I owned that 30 years ago, so I might be mistaken.

Re: Stock Tachometers, How to add one

I have a cm200t engine and the block connector is completely diferent to the cb200t block connector,

cm200t has 8pins prob more auxiliaries like oil pressure etc
and the cb200t only has 4 but has a tachometer.

I was weirded out at first aswell!no reason why it shoulda been the same but obviously Honda where always trying new things to see what worked well for people.

NO Goose.....Your engine has crankshaft mounted Electronic ignition, and needs those wires to run.....
