Hey guys, a buddy of mine has a well used '83 ATC200 that he is trying to get working properly. He noticed he had an oil leak and found that it was coming from the head, just above where the spark plug is. There seems to be a metal plug there that is leaking oil. Just wondering what this plug is there for and how best to go about sealing it up. He just uses it to bomb around on so it doesn't need to be perfect, he just wants to stop it from leaking.

Here is a pic of the plug. In the pic the spark plug is removed but I have an arrow showing where it would be for reference purposes. Is that plug from the factory when they machined the head for the oil passages? Previous owners work?

Any help would be appreciated.

The pic is too close and at the "wrong" angle to really see its position on the overall head, (area does not look round enough for a drilled/plugged hole)
but I'd assume a porous casting or a plugged oiling bore anyway...

Thanks Steve. I know the pic is not the best for showing the plug, its all I have. I haven't seen the trike in person.

Thanks for the feedback.

I've owned a few 200S models and I'd have to guess that it's a bad casting..

Thanks GB for the feedback. Hopefully he can seal it up good enough.
